Facts about Blood and Blood Donation

·     One out of every 7 people entering a hospital needs blood
·     Every 2 seconds someone needs blood
·     Every 10 seconds someone is receiving a blood transfusion
·     Approximately 3 gallons of blood supports the entire nation’s blood needs for 1 minute
·     40% of the U.S. population is eligible to donate – only 5% do on a yearly basis
·     There are 4 main blood types:  A, B, AB and O
·     The rarest blood type is the one not on the shelf at the moment a patient needs it

A pint today saves a life tomorrow.

During our November 2008 blood drive we collected enough blood products to save 27 lives!

Our May 2009 blood drive collected enough blood products to save 30 lives!

Help us increase our number again!

Miller-Keystone Blood Center is the only supplier of blood products to the hospitals in Berks, Carbon, Eastern Schuylkill, Lehigh, Northampton, Southern Luzerne, Upper Bucks and Western Montgomery counties, including Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.  So every pint collected goes toward saving the lives of your family and friends.
