Rendell Signs Execution Warrants For 2 Local Men In Berks & Chester Counties

Governor Edward G. Rendell signed execution warrants for James W. VanDivner, 61, of Fayette County; Anthony Fletcher, 54, of Philadelphia; Dennis L. Miller, 47, of Chester County; and Bryan Sean Galvin, 45, of Berks County.

VanDivner was found guilty of the July 2004 fatal shooting Michelle Cable of Grindstone, Fayette County. He was convicted and sentenced to death in February 2007. His execution is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 17.

In January 1993, Fletcher was convicted of first-degree murder in the March 1992 shooting death of Vaughn Christopher. He was formally sentenced to death on Feb. 21, 1996. His execution is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 18.

Miller was found guilty of the November 1995 rape and fatal stabbing of his wife, Sherry. He was convicted and sentenced to death in October 1997. He is scheduled to be executed on Thursday, Aug. 19.

Galvin was convicted of first-degree murder in August 2007 for the shooting death of Kristofer Kolesnik in January 2006. He was formally sentenced to death on Sept. 6, 2007. His execution is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 24.

Fletcher, Galvin and Miller are incarcerated at the State Correctional Institution at Greene. VanDivner is housed at the State Correctional Institution at Graterford. All executions in Pennsylvania are carried out by lethal injection.

With these warrants signed, Governor Rendell has now signed 108 execution warrants.
