Teresa Carboni of Limerick, PA, was the inaugural recipient of the Mylan Excellence in Pharmacy Award at the annual awards ceremony of the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy.

The award recognizes one graduate each year whose pursuit of excellence has distinguished him or her through academic achievement, professional motivation, and demonstration of a unique ability to communicate drug information.

The University of Charleston School of Pharmacy was founded in Charleston, West Virginia, in 2006, and Carboni is a member of its first class of doctors of pharmacy (Pharm.D.s), who graduated on May 2, 2010. She has accepted a pharmacy practice residency with the Veterans Administration in Baltimore, Maryland.

The mission of the school is to prepare pharmacists who will provide comprehensive patient care, advance the profession of pharmacy through research and advocacy, and serve the community as leaders in rural health care.
