The Green Lane Loop Trail was completed by building 1.7 miles of new trail that took over a year to construct and cost $3 million, largely due to the need to build an underpass beneath Hill Road.  The entire cost of the project was paid for with federal transportation dollars.  It is now open year-round to walkers, hikers, equestrians, bicyclists and for cross-country skiing.

The Montgomery County Commissioners are pleased to announce the completion of the Green Lane Loop, just over nine miles of multi-use recreational trail that entirely circles the Green Lane Reservoir.

In addition to being able to go around the entire reservoir, trail users can easily access the Nature Center and an additional 25 miles of interior park trails.

Montgomery County now has more than 54 miles of recreational trails. There are plans for 165 miles of trail that will crisscross the County and bring a regional trail to within five miles of every County resident.

The Green Lane Loop ties into the Perkiomen Trail, which seamlessly connects remote untouched natural areas and parks to busy downtown shopping centers and commercial districts.

The Perkiomen Trail links in with the Schuylkill River Trail, giving Montgomery County and the region a 45-mile long trail that connects downtown Philadelphia, Valley Forge National Historical Park, the John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove, three County parks and the Pennypacker Mills County historic site.
