Evony – Addiction and Obsession and Fun and Free!

John Henning here, I am the editor of the Pottstown Herald Newspaper.  I don’t know if you have ever heard of a game called Evony, but boy is it addicting & fun.  And the best part of it is, it is Free!

The basic theme is that you build a castle and then you build it up while defending yourself.  Alliances are there to help you and there are experienced players to help as well.

I am in an alliance on server 89 that is called Chronic. My screen name is BobWasHere.  Our alliance leader is a great guy with a lot of experience. We are currently ranked 25th out of all of the alliances!

The gameplay is fast, furious and fun.  Attacking and defending and building up your armies as well as castle is key.

You can own multiple cities by promotion.  You get promoted by securing medals. You are awarded medals by attacking, so it goes full circle.

The graphics are very good. There is no sound, but that is so you can play it at work and not get caught.

You start the game in what is referred to as Beginner’s Protection. This is a seven day period of time that allows you to build up your castle and troops.  You can also build up your defences during this time.

There is a quest log to follow so that you can complete all the tasks and by completing those tasks you earn rewards and more supplies.

One of the keys to the game is balance. You need to balance resource building with attacking and defending.  All the while building your army and your defenses too.

It seems that archers are one of the most sought after type of troops. It seems like every big player ends up with thousands of archers and they dominate the landscape.

It is fairly easy to upgrade and research, all you do is click on a building and click upgrade or choose the research you want to do.

Buying and selling resources is important if you want to grow quickly. Using the market you can buy what you need and sell what you do not need.

Building your prestige quickly will get you into a good alliance. You absolutely must be in an alliance or you will get crushed.

The alliance will help you grow quickly by giving you tips & tricks of the game.  There are no cheats, so you must go all the way through build up and research to get to the top. The game levels out at level 10 but by that point you will have 10′s of thousands of troops and tons of resources to work with.

It takes a long time to get bored as there is always something happening.  The alliance chat is a great way to get to know people too.
